Simple set question
Question 1. Hero has $50 both opps cover
UTG raises to $2, CO calls, hero calls on button with 55. Standard so far Flop comes A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG raises to $6 CO calls Hero raises to $16 UTG pushes, Co pushes, Hero? Question 2. Exactly the same but hero has 44. Insta-call both times? |

Re: Simple set question
Does no-one have an opinion on this? Read on both players is weak but over 20 hands or so they've not got out of line.
At SS do you simply call with a set on almost any board? |

Re: Simple set question
call with both hands.
Expect to be up against AK and possibly some combo draw more often than you are up against a set. It's a little tricker with 44 because set over set is even more likely but it simply doesn't happen often enough to worry about. Get your money in there in both situations. |

Re: Simple set question
You got the flop you wanted and action to boot. Normally I push this every day and twice on days that end in y (especially if I am the small stack).
Both your scenarios are autocalls without a strong read on villains. Even if someone flopped the straight or nut flush draw, you have redraws. |

Re: Simple set question
So the concensus is definatly call both times, which is precisely how I'd have called it too. As the hand when down I had 55 as in the first example UTG had 44 and the CO had AQo. Utterly predictable, harsh on UTG and moronic by the CO.
It did however get me thinking that on this board at NL50 where flush draws are pushed EXCEPTIONALLY rarely that had I have had 44 there might be a shout for dumping this one. I spose the fact that people overplay a paired Ace so badly at this level makes a call the correct play everytime. But with good players there really ins't much the CO could have but 55 or AA that would make his call make sense. Interesting potential hand at a higher level but not at SSNL I spose. |
