two player card games
My girlfriend and I are looking for a good 2 player card game (other than p*ker) to learn together. Any suggestions for something that isn't too tough to learn, but has a decent amount of strategy to it?

Re: two player card games
2 player spades.
Play is exactly like spades except instead of dealing out four hands the deck is placed face down in the middle of the table and the two players alternate picking cards. The first player looks at the top card. If he/she wants it, he/she puts it in his hand and then discards the new top card on the deck without looking at it. If he/she does not want it, he/she must take the new top card into his/her hand. Then the next player goes. Alternate until all cards are dealt. Each player now has a hand of 13 cards. The first player to pick now bids as in spades (although with no partner). The second player then bids. The first player leads the opening trick. Play then commences as in spades. Very fun game. There are several other variations as well. |
