Default Smooth calling with Pocket aces.

I usually have a tight image at the table and I have gotten into the habit of smooth calling large pre flop raises with AA. Usually a large raise represents a medium to high pair and a smooth call can usually win more money post flop then a substantial reraise by me pre flop. I know I stand to loose my stack if my opponent flops trips but he seeems to be worth the risk when I can capture large sums post flop when they miss.

If I have to show the AA after a smooth call I will surely put in a large reraise pre flop if I get AA with the same players again.

Any comments about smooth calling a large raise with just one or two other players?

I almost never do it, unless sometimes when villian puts in a third raise.

Do it once in a while if:
1. ONE opponent
2. You have position on him
3. The stacks is something like 1 to 1.5 pot bets left.

Thanks, even though the play has been working I have the sneaking suspicion that giving infinite odds is not a good idea. How much do you like to reraise? Do you reraise on any other hands?

Often I think I try to get too sneaky, the object of the game is to get the other guy to play other than he would if he knew your hand. Giving free cards or free looks does not usually fit into this strategy!

I use to reraise something around pot. But it depends on stacksizes. I reraise with other hands as well. Almost always with KK, with other hands it depends on the player, against a wild loose goose I might reraise with something as "bad" as AJ or KJs

I'll always reraise against two players, usually against one.

If you're going to smooth call and go all the way with AA and position, you want to do it with 24bb in preflop rather than 8bb.

If he folds preflop, oh well, maybe he thinks your picking on him and gives you action later.

I usually pot it. But, I do this with LOTS of hands, depending on the player.

The most obvious being AA-TT, AK-AQ. Perhaps less obvious being lower PPs, SCs, or even air, if I think he'll fold.

Be re-raising semi-frequently they won't know what to think when you do it, and you're more likely to get more action.
