Did I get donked on this call?
Playing a live game, blinds are 1/2:
I have about 250 in my stack, and the 2 other people involved in this pot player 1 has about 100 and player 2 has both of us covered by a little. I limp in with JhQd and they limp in too. Flop comps 8c9s10c: I fire out 25 (large bets are common at this table) Player 1 reraises me 50, and PLayer 2 calls. I see the 25 more and reraise the rest of my stack 200 all in. Player 1 calls and player 2 calls too. We turn over our cards and player 1 shows a 7s8s for the bottom end of the straight, and player 2 shows qc2c for the flush draw. Now he knew that his inside straight draw would only be good for a split it he hit it, so he knew he had to hit the flush to win the pot. Was this a was this a good call on his part, and would you make it in this situation? |

He's getting more than enough odds to chase a flush, the fact that he could also split is a bonus.

[/ QUOTE ] Well, he didn't 'know' that you had the nuts at the time, so the inside straight draw could have been good... but remember that he has a 35% chance of hitting his flush by the river, and his call has been matched by two other players, so he's getting at least 2:1 (and I'm sure it's considerably more, but I didn't count up the pot before he called). Also remember that straights have no redraw against flushes. |

I would insta-fold in his position.

I would insta-fold in his position. [/ QUOTE ] why? edit: i might fold too, but certainly not without considerable thought -- and only if I could put my opponents on the hands that have me drawing very slim |

To the Original Poster
To the OP:
This post is what we know as 'results-oriented thinking' - you're asking us if you got donked on the call, which presumes that the flush hit and you lost a huge pot. From your spot, though -- who cares if you got 'donked'? You got all your money in as a 55/38/(7% to tie) favorite, with an entire player's stack in the pot as dead money. This isn't a bad situation. |

Re: To the Original Poster
I know the title implies that he hit his flush, but I did not give the results, and I was more or less concerned as to whether he made the right call and if I should be making this kind of play in the future.

whether he made the right call (1) and if I should be making this kind of play in the future (2). [/ QUOTE ] (1): Probably (2): Every time. |

Re: To the Original Poster
How could you seriously be wondering if your play was correct? You have just about the best possible hand on the flop, and you got all-in with it.
