Default stupid stats you hate seeing....

Saw this today.... "Oregon is 0-9 all-time against No. 1 opponents"

Yeah, but like every other team is 9-0 again #1 ranked teams? Isn't like every single team 0-9 or 1-9? Why do I need to know they usually lose to #1 teams, isn't that obvious?

Another one that bugs me is something like "The Colts are 12-1 when Peyton throws for 300 yards and 4 touchdowns"

Uh yeah, no [censored]! What about when he throws for 150 yards, 1 TD and 2 INTs? Do they usually lose? What is their record then?

My favorite college football team is 713-0 when scoring more points than the opposing team.

Agree with both of your examples
Two stats that bother me in baseball are outfield assists and wins. Manny Ramirez is one of the league leader in outfield assists and he couldn't hit the borad side of a barn. His reputation is so bad that anyone runs on him and he gets so many oppurtinities. Conversely nobody runs on Vladmir Guerrero, Ichiro etc. because they now they will got gunned out.
An example wins being overrated. Freddy Garcia pitched a complete game one hitter, and lost 1-0 to Johan Santana's complete game shut out three hitter. As well there are defintley game that end up 12-7 and the starting pitcher wins with 5IP 6ER.

"Willy Taveras is 0-3 lifetime against Carlos Zambrano."

Wow, 3 at-bats. Taveras shouldn't even waste his time going up to the plate.

Another baseball stat I see way too much:

"The Astros are 77-3 when leading after 8 innings." Unless the number of losses is 0, I'm not too interested, most teams have a pretty good record when leading after 8.

I wish I could remember the exact state they showed during an NFL game Sunday. It was something like "The Lions are 0-25 when his team is -3 or worse in turnover differential." Who's sitting at home thinking wow, that team really sucks when they turn the ball over.

the worst one is something like:

all-time, the Packers are leading Cincinatti in wins heads-up 74-39

who cares about what happened 89 years ago?

HA, sounds like the kind of stats you see at the padres game.

"Khalil is 6-14 in his last 3 games with 1 double and a HR"

"Nady is batting .325 in the month of august with runners in scoring posting in home games"

Anything ridiculously specific:
"Dunn has hit 0 sac flies in his last 298 ABs with Griffey on third, Casey on second and first base empty"

Well Johny Joe rarely loses in this situation, in fact he has won 19 straight when leading by 11 or more by the ned of the 3rd quarter.
That is sooooooo MNF.
