Loosest LV casino for middle limits
Based mostly on having the weakest competition, which of the usual middle-limit casinos in Vegas would you recommend for middle limit poker (say 10-20 to 20-40)?

Re: Loosest LV casino for middle limits
Your post is a little bit odd because AFAIK Mirage is the only one that regualrly gets a $10-20 game going. When I played there in January and again in May, the game was definitely weak-tight. Most of the players were locals. Occasionally a fishy tourist would get in the game and the game would turn much looser and more aggressive. I was surprised at how poorly the locals reacted to the prescence of a calling station in the game.
I go to Vegas about 12 times a year, and the only other places I have seen a $10-20 are Horseshoe and Orleans, and both those games broke within an hour of my arrival. And as far as $15-30 goes, Bellagio seems to have the most action. |

Re: Loosest LV casino for middle limits
That could be. The reason I added the other casinos is that All Vegas Poker implied that those casinos deal a 10-20 game (8/16 in the case of Bellagio and Wynn).
I am a 10/20 and 20/40 regular in the Chicago area. I have a pretty good idea that the games in Vegas will be a lot tighter than Chicago, but I was hoping to finding something similar in Vegas for my coming trip. |

Re: Loosest LV casino for middle limits
I was playing 2/4 at Gold Coast when they announced they were starting a list for a 10/20 game. Another 2+2'er at the table says "10/20? Where do they think this is, the Bellagio?" Most of the rest of the table looked confused when I chuckled at that. Obviously, the 10/20 game never started. The point is, yeah, check with real people before showing up somewhere expecting to find a mid-limit game. They talk, but often don't deliver.

Re: Loosest LV casino for middle limits
AVP does suggest those places all run 10/20 but none of them regularly except for the Orleans and Mirage. Both games are about the same.
All the poker rooms in town claim they spread games but trying to get anything besides 2/4, 3/6 and 4/8 limit games is all but impossible. Even MGM is having trouble getting a 6/12 game going. The only "mid limit" games you are going to find are the 10/20 at the joints I mentioned, 15/30 at Bellagio/Wynn and 30/60 at both. 20/40 and 40/80 are at Mirage. Then it jumps to 80/160 at the Bellagio and thats pretty much it. |

Bah. Who needs 'em anywhere else? Mirage, Bellagio, and Wynn are the best three rooms, anyway.

Learn NL, way better +EV than any of the limit choices you gave IMO. All the true idiots are playing NL in Vegas now.

Re: Loosest LV casino for middle limits
The highest limit I've played at Wynn is $8/16. I've only played that limit there once or twice, but in those short sessions I walked away feeling that the players at the Wynn $8/16 were slightly less skilled than the average Bellagio $8/16 players.
Of course, this was a few months ago, and I understand that Wynn's player texture may have become more challenging. Really, both poker rooms attract relatively experienced players (especially at games above $4/8). Your best bet is to just get a read on your table early. If the table is too decent, have the discipline to stand up and go elsewhere. |
