Muck Rule
First time I've been at a table with a rules dispute in a long time...figure this one is easy. I see a flop heads up with an opponent. He checks to me, I bet the pot, he goes all in for a decent sized check raise. I announce "call" and flip my cards face up on the table, relatively close to me. Nowhere near the muck. Everyone saw my hand and heard my call. I had A-K offsuit on a monotone flop of A-K-X. I had no redraws, so only the ranks mattered. The dealer mucked my cards as I reached for the money to call the bet. Opponent got visibly irritated as they pulled the cards out of the muck...even though I clearly announced call. Dealer easily finds cards, opponent misses draw and leaves table pissed off.
Is this muck retrieval the correct ruling? |

Re: Muck Rule
You announced call and everyone knew your intention. Let it ride.

Is this muck retrieval the correct ruling? [/ QUOTE ] Yes. Search this forum using my name or Randy Refeld crossed with muck for the details. Quick point. You won't get consistent rulings or sometimes others won't see your cards so always turn your hand over in such a way that it's protected (e.g. I keep two fingers on the winning hand and don't let the dealer touch them until it's been acknowledged as the winning hand and/or the losing hands are killed). ~ Rick |

Re: Muck Rule
Good point, and a practice I typically use. I was more concerned about my read than protecting my hand, which is a problem. I don't think I've ever announced call any louder. I ended up winning the hand when the villain table a K with the Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Obviously as soon as he was debating the call, I knew I was ahead. He picked up a Q on the turn which made my gut hurt a little, but I took it down with a blank on the river.

Note to self: #1 Announce action #2 Push chips across line (amount does not matter since it was an all-in and any action means a call) #3 Wait for dealer's signal and then flip cards [/ QUOTE ] |
