[ QUOTE ] I like both turn bet and 3bet. [/ QUOTE ] Why? [/ QUOTE ] You don't really have any reason to believe the villain to have a hand here, peeling one on the flop is fairly standard for these donks with almost anything. I don't see a reason to give a free card to someone with possibly 6 clean outs. I also think my hand has enough showdown value to take some heat. When he raises, it may mean a lot of things, with pure air or a worse flush draw being a strong option. I prefer 3bet to calling as it will take a very strong hand for him to cap here, i will often be able to take a free showdown and if a free showdown is a strong option it looks much better than a call since you can now also valuebet on a jack, an ace or a flush. If he caps, good for him. |

Re: results
[ QUOTE ]
I think checking the turn is the best play against a guy like this, and really, against a lot of guys on this board with that hand after the prior action. [/ QUOTE ] I disagree and the reason is something that I have just recently learned. On a board like this, this particular villain is the type that is foaming at the mouth to checkraise this turn, almost no matter what he holds. He is so likely to bluff raise that I think with a hand this strong (AJ with the nut flush draw) we should bet to "induce" the raise and then call him down. Without the Ace of clubs, I would usually check behind on the turn and usually call a river bet although I sometimes think if I had any real balls I would bet and call down even without the club.
