1600x1200 if your monitor can support it. Should I buy 2 monitors with a dual mon video card instead? Yes cordless mouse? is it reliable for fast switching between tables? I have a cordless keyboard and mouse. The mouse is reliable. It also has a built in feature to lose battery power whenever I get AA. Always keep a lot of extra batteries laying around. |

Re: New hardware for multiple tables
I'd recommend getting an LCD monitor / video card that supports at least 1600*1200 resolution. That way you have room for 4 tables on your desk top without much/any overlap. Cordless mouse should be fine. You probably want to get a higher end PC (say at least 2.4 G CPU a 533 or 800 mhz bus, SATA drive, and as much ram as you can afford). That said. you'll fly between tables

As 'Cup said you need 1600x1200 res for this. This will allow you to 4-table just about anywhere. One caveat though. My 19" monitor can run at 1600x1200, but as it only does it at 75Hz and burns out my retinas I still don't run it that high. You really want it to run at at least 85Hz in that Res for it to be everyday-usable imo. cordless mouse? is it reliable for fast switching between tables? Probably the best PC purchase I've ever made is the Logitech MX700 mouse I'm using. It's a badass. And as it cost me £60 ($100) and I think it's worth every penny you can tell how much I love it. |

Re: New hardware for multiple tables
John's advice about the refresh rate is VERY good. If you play a lot, you shouldn't skimp on the monitor. I suggest a good 20" LCD monitor. I have a Dell Ultrasharp 20", with a native resolution of 1600x1200, and a generic 14" LCD as my second monitor, for checking email, web surfing, running any programs, etc... Very nice. With a good LCD you don't have to worry about refresh rate. With a CRT, you want 85Hz as John suggested, I think. - Tony |

Re: New hardware for multiple tables
If you don't have a cable modem/broadband already, save the $$ on hardware and upgrade your internect connection.
I just bought a new cordless optical mouse at Best Buy with a funky "Gyro" feature. You literally can hold it up in the air (off of any flat surface) and move the mouse by waving your hand/arm around. Takes some getting used to, but it rocks to sit way back in a comfy chair to play poker by waving a magic wand in the air. |
