Hand from Borgata WPT Main Event.
Started with 20k chips, I currently have ~12,000 and the blinds are 100 200. Everyone at the table has between 20 and 30,000 besides the BB who has 5400.
I am dealt Ac Ks in the SB and there are 5 limpers to me. I complete not wanting to play a big pot out of position with just AK. The BB moves in for 5400 total. The 5 limpers all fold to me. I call. Thoughts? |

Re: Hand from Borgata WPT Main Event.
I like the call. I'd put him on a rather wide range, as he could be doing this to pick up the money in the pot, or he could be steaming because he's lost three quarters of his stack already. But even against a fairly tight range (AA-TT, AK-AQ) you're a coinflip, and the pot is offering you an overlay sufficient to take it.
Also, gamboolin' and winning will get you up near where the rest of the table is, and losing won't entirely cripple you. |

Re: Hand from Borgata WPT Main Event.
Just curious why you posted this.
You are very good at MTT's and this is a no brainer. Dead $$ makes it a very, very, very easy call. Regards, Woodguy |

I would call the allin raise. I also think that both calling and making a large raise preflop are okay. |

He may have wondered about whether he should just call preflop? |

He may have wondered about whether he should just call preflop? [/ QUOTE ] He said he didn't want to play a big pot OOP. Given the stack sizes I agree with him on the PF complete if anyone calls he's unlikey to get paid if he hits, if he misses, well.....bleh. Serious negative implied odds with raising that PF in that position. Regards, Woodguy |

Re: Hand from Borgata WPT Main Event.
6800 in the pot, 5200 to call.
You are getting 1.3:1 odds. Let's be crazy for a second and assume that BB would only push AK, 22-QQ. In that case, which is probably the worst case scenario, you are only a 1.2:1 dog. So it's definitely a call. I think this would be a more interesting question if there were just 2 limpers. |

Re: Hand from Borgata WPT Main Event.
I was at the Borgata on Saturday and even a few of the people that were gonna play there seemed fishy. Any chance AQ calls if you donk push PF? No, huh? Anyway, I like.

However, I don't see the logic behind not raising. You might pick up the pot with a raise. You have a lot of choices of raise size. You could just overbet push. You could also make a pot building small raise with likely the best hand. I can't see that completing is best. |
