heredetary factors. Not solely fast food.

Solely? Not in many cases. But given the increases in the number of people getting diabetes, I'm guessing poor diet accounts for like 75% of the cases.

Really? I've actually noticed quite the opposite. A lot of people in wheelchairs seem to just be fat old ladies who are too lazy to walk.

Ditto. This thread reminds me of two funny stories:

1) Back in the day, maybe 5 years ago in 7th grade, we used to have this assembly day thing. I can't remember what it was called, but that's unimportant anyway. So the assembly is on awareness of helmets and such, and they had 2 dudes in wheelchairs. The main guy had just explained that he became paralyzed after crashing his motorcycle. He said his brain was almost rendered useless or something, due to not wearing his helmet. So as a demonstration, he was asking random people in the audience what we use our brains for. Some kid stands up and says to do homework, another says play baseball, and some other crap. I tell my friend what to say, wheelchair dude calls on him, friend stands up and says, "to ride motorcycles."

Hahaha, damn, that's mean. Ah, the other story is just how I stole a wheelchair from a bookstore. Not exactly that funny..

Jesus.

Anyways, I would imagine those in wheelchairs because of real disability, not just because they're too fat to walk, would be more health-conscious in general.

This is a disgusting trait in people. If they aren't gonna use their legs they should give them to war vets and diabetics who've lost their legs. I hate seeing this. You see this a lot in casinos. Fat old people in wheelchairs sticking coin after coin of their retirement money into an Effin slot machine. One of the most disgusting things you can see. It's up there with witnessing a pwning.
