[ QUOTE ] I don't like to push kings preflop in this situation, because any ace has nearly a 30% chance to win, and I believe I have a bigger advantage over most of these players than 70% in the long run. [/ QUOTE ] You're wrong. [/ QUOTE ] Insert two word post here. |

This guy is beyond hopeless. mrh86, you are being results oriented. Your reasoning for not pushing KK preflop is waaaaay off. If you dont understand why you want AK, AQ, AJ, etc.. to call when hold KK, you should not be playing poker. [/ QUOTE ] FYP. (Although I have no idea what FYP means, people always seem to write it in this situation.) |

Having someone raise before you when you hold KK is exactly what you want, isn't it? There's only 1 hand that has you beat at that point, but people can raise with so many other hands that AA that I'd push. In a poker tournament you only get so many chances to win the big pots, and this looks like a really good chance to do so. Also, a reraise from you will likely make people with Ax fold, which seems to be your biggest concern.
As for the 30% chance of being beat, when playing online math is almost all you have. 70% chance to potentially double up looks like great odds to me. It's of course easy to critisize yourself after being beat by the one hand you fear, but in the long run, KK will win significantly more than it will lose. |
