Two Man, Three Club Scramble event
My league always finishes the year with a two-man, three club scramble. Each player picks three clubs they can use for the nine holes. Everyone gets to use their putter.
I took 3W, 8i, SW to my partner's Driver, 5i, PW and we won with a score of +2 (our league is small, and at +13.7 Yahoo index I'm the lowest handicap). Club choice is probably very course dependant, but what would you take? -- Scott |

Re: Two Man, Three Club Scramble event
depends some on the course IMO. I would take either a driver or 3W, either a 5 or 7 iron, and either a SW or PW. The bunkering makes things depend. The length of the par 3's makes things depend. With a partner I think you have to have a mix, so what you carry depends on the strngths in your game. The better driver carries driver, the better bunker player carries SW.
I am learning that people carry too many clubs anyway. My best rounds this year came with partial sets. I have not played in a while, but when I get back to it I may play with 9 or 10 clubs at most. The game is more fun. Even with the awful modern golf balls, you can make some shots. The game would be more fun with a rolled back ball and 9 club maximum. Won't happen, but if you carry fewer clubs you will have more fun and will probably score about the same. |

Re: Two Man, Three Club Scramble event
3i, 7i, SW
I am terrible with my driver. I hit my 3I about 175-200...but it's straight. If I use any of my woods, you can better believe it's going 225 north and 150 east. But I don't play long courses. Most par 5's I play are only 450 with the occasional 500 so my reasons might be flawed. |

Re: Two Man, Three Club Scramble event
I have played three club tourney's with a D, 7i and putter. I'm not sure what my third club would be if you included the putter, since I can hit my 7i anywhere from 150 and in. I'm guess a SW.

Re: Two Man, Three Club Scramble event
Ok, seriously, if I'm going to list the 6 non-putter clubs we'd take:
My fairway wood My sand wedge My 6 iron His driver His 8 iron His 4 iron/PW depending on the course |

Re: Two Man, Three Club Scramble event
I hit the hell out of my 5-iron so I'd have to take that. Also I'd take my 8 and PW. My partner would have to take driver, SW and another club.
