Re: America west airlines
[ QUOTE ]
It's the worst airline I've ever been on. Probably the cheapest one though. Expect the worst. [/ QUOTE ] last year i was flying AW back from vegas to philly. in our stopover in Salt Lake, our flight was delayed 7 hours because they didn't have a pilot or crew for the plane. wow. |

Re: America west airlines
I had trouble with them once on a trip to LV with a very long delay. I use them because they have the only non stop from Boston to LV.

Re: America west airlines
Unlike everyone else, I have flown AW 5+ roundtrips from Chicago and never had a memorable issue with them. I consider them on par with United and American, but I'm not that particular. I am guessing Chicago to Vegas or Phoenix is more consistent than others????
I will be in Vegas that same weekend, but flying united on FF miles. Prices are higher than usual these days. |

Re: America west airlines
I have flown America West from Detroit to Vegas twice. No problems. Like non-stop service.

Re: America west airlines
I do not like them as much as Southwest. Either might be cheapest, and it pays to do a thourough search of rates. I have never had a problem with Southwest Burbank or LAX to Las Vegas or Austin. However I have experienced delays on AAW nearly every time I have gone with them. I, like you, look for the cheapest flight, and if prices are close I will always use Southwest.
As far as hotels go, you have no choice but to use taxis or rental car to get to a hotel. The cheapest places on the strip will be Barbary Coast, Imperial Palace, Circus Circus, Stratosphere, Frontier, Tropicana, Sahara, Riviera, and Boardwalk. If you are really strapped to find a cheap place close to the strip you can take your chances so to speak at Bourbon Street, but I cannot recommend you do so. Of these, Stratosphere is nicest, but prohibatively far from the main area of the strip. IP is close to everything, has a Karoke bar that attracts cute women, is within easy walking distance of Bellagio, Mirage, Alladin, and MGM poker rooms, and is clean and decent enough. I recommend IP over Boardwalk by quite a bit. I recommend the following: 1.) Check www.cheapovegas.com and their hotel bargain bin section. 2.) Check for airline/hotel packages with the airlines. 3.) Download travelaxe and run a search with them 4.) Check expedia, travelocity, i4vegas, and bookvegas 5.) Check with the individual hotels. I usually do all of the above to find the best rate. |

Re: America west airlines
typical economy airline. if you just want to get there cheap, it'll be fine.
imperial palace. clean, centrally located, and cheap. plus it's actually got a wierd, young vibe to it. like spring break meets vegas. i stay there when i just want a cheap room. |

Re: America west airlines (try southwest)
America West is always crowded, charges $5 for snacks (until they run out) and will bitch-slap you for $100 if you have to make any change in plans. Southwest from Chicago is comparable and easier with changes, and their online reservations are the best. http://www.southwest.com/

[/ QUOTE ] 1) Always great service 2) No first class, everyone gets plenty of space and the same treatment. 3) Satellite TV on board, lots of channels, choice of movies to watch on a personal screen. 4) Never had a single issue |
