A year or two ago in college my roomie was starting to play and we signed him up with a female name. He was playing small stakes, so it's probably an exception, but he had people giving him free money, and calling all-ins because "they liked her." He probably had 3-5 people send him money after they won an all-in on him. They would feel bad and they'd send over $5 to his account.

I'm a chick. My online screen names are pretty gender neutral, but when I play live people soft play me all the time because "they don't want to take my money", toss me chips when they win pots, and buy me food and drinks at the tables. I bluff at will because so many people assume girls only bet with the nuts and they'll fold to me, and I've never had a problem getting food comps. Being a girl in a casino rocks.

i play 200 and 400nl 6m, so maybe its getting high enough that it wouldnt matter.

I'd say it is slightly +EV. Guys talk to you alot, and seem to hint at how lucky you are getting when you continually beat them.

It's worth about 0.3 BB/100 hands on 2/4 holdem and 0.2 BB/100 hands on 3/6 and lower omaha hi-lo. I have over 50k hands each way. So, unless I've been luckier with the female icon, my opponents are contributing more to my female account. IT seems like people try to push me off pots more often as a female.
