"Hey Rolf! At least you know you have an audience, huh?"

honestly i wanted to make sure i did before i dissected his work. first you put a feeler out and then see if anyone responds with outrage or agreement or questions, and then put forth your thesis. it's an awful feeling to type out a longer post and then have no on read it, that's why i lashed out and explained later.

I haven't read the articles that are being discussed but I do recall reading a couple of Rolf's articles that I thought were very good. Try "playing the player" which came out in the spring this year. The cardplayer website probably has it in the archives.

Obviously, we all have different likes and dislikes but overall, and for what it's worth, I like Rolf's stuff. I don't like the articles penned by Weisenberg, West, and Capalletti. Others might.

I think Hellmuth's articles are inane and I have explained why before. Others might love them.

I don't like Glazer's writing style.

My favourite CP columnists are Cooke, Barry T., Ciaffone, and of course S & M.

I also liked Strauss' articles on 7 stud but he no longer writes for CP. Jim Brier's articles were also very good but he too has left.

Anyway, that's my opinion FWIW.

I never thought I'd make it into one of these catchy tag-line thingies. I'm checking it off my "life list." I can die happy now

I second this notion. I don't even read them anymore. He did one a while ago about pot-limit Omaha (hi) that I bashed on the pot-limit forum here. It was complete trash in my opinion, though it did have some entertainment value, it had almost no information value. There is a paucity of literature on pot-limit in general anyway and then to see Phil spew out lickspittle trash was too much even for smooth tempered me.

And I agree that Rolf has put out some good articles that are worth reading. I have not seen the articles that are discussed by others in this thread so cannot make any comments about them.

Default last hellmuth article i read was worthwhile

i think the last hellmuth article was interesting but that's because he didnt write it. i think it was ted forrest. it was about a 1500-3000 stud hand at hustler that was interesting/entertaining, and about how a rich guy got mugged on his way home from there. i needed to read that part, and i think a lot of you would do well to read it as well. i know far too many of us walk around in places we shouldnt with a couple grand of meaningful moolah to us in the ole wallet.

Mason,

Actually, the NL HE game is going strong at Lucky Chances, Colma. I was playing the $20-$40HE, on Wed. (Sept.3) and there were two full games and a third with 6-7 players when I cashed out. $10-$10-$20 Blinds with $1,000. Buy In, which I think is way too light to get in.
