99 in sb
I read the posts yesterday about blind defense and noticed that there were some stats about the blinds and bb/hand. My stats after 10k hands are sb -.10, bb-.12. I started to review my hands that lost the most for me in those positions and this one stuck out at me. Really has nothing to do with blind defense, but wondered if any of you would play this differently.
No reads, this was about a week ago. Re: 99 in sb
3 bet the flop.
If you don't, and you don't lead the turn you risk the chance of CO taking a free card, and you really don't want that. If you don't 3bet the flop, and you do lead the turn I think you'll be missing a SB. A lot of players will slow down to a donk bet if they have only TP or worse. So 3bet the flop, bet the turn, bet the river. |

Re: 99 in sb
I go to war on the flop.
I understand the strategy of calling the flop raise so as to c/r the turn, but I absolutely positively do not want the turn to get checked through. Take away the two hearts and I would probably play the way you did, but with the flush draw out there I think villain is going for a free card or cheap showdown often enough that I'd rather just go ahead and take my 1.5 BBs from reraising the flop and leading the turn than risk all of that by trying to eke out an extra 0.5 BB. Also, I reraise the river and call a cap, so I'm losing a couple BBs more on this than you did. |

Re: 99 in sb
That was my thinking too. When I reviewed this hand, I thought, 'why didn't i reraise the flop?' I should have with the two [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]'s. Then led out the turn.

Re: 99 in sb
yah-
to echo what has been said... with no reads, and given the coordinated board and given that UTG folded and it is now headsup - i am 3-betting this flop and leading the turn. if i knew villian to be super-aggressive (ie, definitely not going for a free card or raising a flush draw and virtually guaranteed to bet the turn) i'd consider your line. |

Re: 99 in sb
i don't mind not 3-betting the flop, but only because i'm donk/3-betting the turn
3-bet the river too. you'll see 2 pair more often than the flush/straight here. |

Re: 99 in sb
I've played it like this when I know my opponent is aggressive enough to keep betting. I like getting a raise in on a heartless turn.
Often I'll just 3bet the flop, and lead the turn. I can also find a raise on the river against many opponents. |
