5/10 hand for analysis
Hey,
Longtime lurker; first post regarding a hand. I'd appreciate any feedback. 9 handed: 5/10 on stars stacks: hero $976 UTG villian1 $975 Button villian2 $1204 SB reads: v1: tight weak v2: t/a very good "known" player I am UTG w/ JJ I open to $30 V1 calls V2 reraises to $100 flat I call, V1 calls *** FLOP *** [Ac 8h 9s] V2: checks Hero: checks V1: checks *** TURN *** [Ac 8h 9s] [Th] V2: bets $150 Hero: raises $726 to $876 and is all-in V1: folds V2: folds Hero collected $607 from pot *** SUMMARY *** Total pot $610 | Rake $3 Board [Ac 8h 9s Th] I know V2 is a frequent poster and I don't know if I should say his name or not. But I'm just curious if I played that ok. I didn't want to call and I thought I had some fold equity. I think V2 had a high pair like kk/qq or something. I wasn't too worried about V1. I figured I had the OE str8 and jack outs. Should I have called or did I do that ok? |

Re: 5/10 hand for analysis
The bet size is fine, the play is solid. He could VERY easilly put you on a set here, assuming you have tightish preflop standars (not a total LAG) the only hand that his KK or QQ can beat is jacks, not very likely. Hes def folding these. Even without jacks, I think its a pretty standard bluff, he played it like either pocket aces or KK, QQ OOP versus 2 opponents. Easy takedown, nice pot.

You don't actually need to move in to make this work, you can make it $400 or $500.

Re: 5/10 hand for analysis
For all the people who like this, do you ever check the flop with 99 or 88? This line represents AA or TT, but not so much the other two.

Re: 5/10 hand for analysis
My main question was if that was too much of an overbet. As in sometimes a bet to like $400-500 seems scarier like I'm inviting a call, however if I do that, i don't see how i can fold to a reraise on the turn, only a call by villian who then pushes on the river. I just don't see the point of putting $500 in leaving a couple hundred back...If I'm raising more than 50% of my stack, shouldn't I just push?
