I am having a lot of trouble adapting my game to rebuys...
I am struggling a lot with rebuys during the rebuy period. After the rebuy period everything should be played the same, right? But would you guys mind sharing what adjustments you make play wise, all-in wise (especially those crazy pre-flop ones), and hand selection wise in rebuys?
I apologize if this is a repost of some sort, I tried to use the search function but came up short. |

Re: I am having a lot of trouble adapting my game to rebuys...
not quite, after the rebuy period the stacks are a usually a lot deeper, so you have more play than you would in a freezeout. And a lot of people continue playing as if it were still rebuy period and you can pick some people off.

Re: I am having a lot of trouble adapting my game to rebuys...
In general. I just push with good hand until i build a stack. In the rebuy it's just time to gambool, so have fun, be a maniac. But whatever you do, just try to accumulate chips.

Re: I am having a lot of trouble adapting my game to rebuys...
A lot of real bad advice here. I have discussed how I play rebuys elsewhere. I think you are wasting money gambling in the rebuy period unless the gambles are favorable.
After the rebuy period there are deeper stacks and more aggressive players than in a freezeout. |

Re: I am having a lot of trouble adapting my game to rebuys...
Man, I love a good rebuy...
Some ppl buy in 5 times or more. Plus the add ons. I always take the add on. Some good players advise re buy immediately. Probably +EV if you expect to finish ITM. I wait to see how many at my table do..I may not. Particularly a limit trny. I rationalize that the money at the end is worth more because I invested less. Make sure you have enough chips to make a hand pay off for you. I like to gamble for the nuts. For example Axs, connected nut straight draws w/ rainbow flops. I think that some hands lose value because of the increased chasing that goes on. Middle pairs as an example. I'm way too weak/tight though. You should do a search for betgo's post. G |

Re: I am having a lot of trouble adapting my game to rebuys...
in a limit tournament i'm not sure about the value of the immediate rebuyy (or the addon) it's not as crucial as the NL one i'd say..
but i think the NL is one to do no matter what (even if no one at your table does) you wouldn't take an immediate 2x chip lead? |

Re: I am having a lot of trouble adapting my game to rebuys...
If I felt threatened by other stacks I would, otherwise I like the better win payout odds. IMO
lol Just searching for betgos post myself. |

Re: I am having a lot of trouble adapting my game to rebuys...
Sure, you might like the win payout odds better....But you're hurting your odds more than the advantage of the payout by not initially rebuying in an NL MTT. Say you get lucky and you're at one of the maniac tables and get dealt AA.......you have 1.5k chips and know that if you push all in you'll get 2 callers w/ marginal hands.....you triple up and have 4.5k chips. Now, lets say you had 3k chips at the start of the hand. All of the sudden, your 3k is somewhere between 6k-9k. And all the chips you gain before the rebuy period are valuable.
