Sometimes I muck... Possibly Boring
Another hand, Villian is somewhat reasonable. It's easy to play against slums but I have less experience in these situations being a primarily limit player.
Effective stacks ~160 1-2 NL again. 1 limper, I call on the button w/A2d, SB, and BB (villian comes along). BB has been reasonable, not bluffing much and only showing down good hands when raising and not raising an above average amount of the time. Flop: 2h 8d 3c SB checks, BB bets $6, CO folds, I call. *** TURN [As] BB bets $10. I call hoping to keep him on his XX pair, or air, and reraise the river. *** RIVER [9c] BB bets $22, I make it $50, he makes it 97 more all-in. I think, I ponder, I muck thinking the only thing I beat is 89. |

Re: Sometimes I muck... Possibly Boring
Why not just call the river? I see no reasoning behind raising and then folding...

Re: Sometimes I muck... Possibly Boring
In retrospec I do think this is the best line and a function of my limit related mistakes.
I'm not sure he pays off with but I'm alittle aggro so I through in some raises that often look like bluffing and get called but on the whole I think these sorts of plays aren't that great of an idea. Thanks for the response. I'm still somewhat curious as to how often a worse hand raises this river. I honestly only see 89 and was not that confident that he was holding 89. (he did show so the mystery was unveiled) |

Re: Sometimes I muck... Possibly Boring
Why did you call a 3/4 bet on the flop w/ bottom pair?
As played, I call the river. |

Re: Sometimes I muck... Possibly Boring (Hidden Results)
I thought A) he wasn't beyond a flop stab and giving up which I had seen B) I could catch something better on the turn C) I could catch a decent bluffing card on the turn
I think most of the time this _is_ just be an insta-muck on the flop over 90% of the time but I deviated this time and ended up with this poor situation which in the future will lead to the instamuck percentage raising no doubt since this doesn't seem to be a situation often that will lend to B being good enough to win many chips off a reasonable holding from villian. What do you put him on, on the river here? I think me calling the ace on the turn is pretty strong here and that the previous poster was probably right in saying doing anything other but calling the river is fairly stupid. Put this way I think the lowest he plays for his stack is with 89 and I felt sick on the reraise. Results in white below He had 99 for the rivered set and afterwards I tried to put him on some things that I beat and figured 89 was the worst and still not all that likely but I still butchered this one badly. |

Re: Sometimes I muck... Possibly Boring
raise the turn because there is a straight and a flush draw out there....what are you doing on the river if another club hits, what if a 4 or 5 hit?
Don't raise the river if you are folding to a reraise. |

Re: Sometimes I muck... Possibly Boring
Definitely raise the turn, you can always check behind on the river and it will charge the draws. That fold is terrible, if your gonna raise you gotta call that.
