Default outplayed or bad play?

This hand hurt. I think i crossed this between getting outplayed and a bad play on my part. The river bet of all in really messed up my thinking of the hand. Give me some feedback as to how i don't get caught in this again.

my point exactly. I like completely brain farted with the all in play on the river. I said fold out loud and my hand had a mind of it's own and called. It's like...why would he go all in if he had it sort of thing instead of trying to get the max value from it. It just completely confused me.

River call is hurrendous.

Given villian's short stack, he's probably a nit. When I open AJ from MP, and nit's min-raise me, warning lights go off. Call is marginally ok though considering 4:1, but be very careful on a flop of Axx or Jxx

Ok, so you flop a double gutter.... check looks good... as you still probably don't want to call much of a bet here.

Turn is probably a c/c or c/f. You still have outs, and even though it looks like villian is slowplaying a set, you have outs against his entire hand range.

River check is standard.... but name a single reraising hand you have beat? Villian has KK/AK here 100% of the time.

You lose to: 88,99,TT,JJ,QQ,KK,AA

you beat AT.

Catch my drift?

Don't play a problem hand like AJ out of position when you're reraised. You're behind unless villain is a total donkey.

Is folding here to the reraise preflop too tight...
I'd lead the turn for 3/4 and see how villain reacts; fold to a raise. Put in a blocking bet for 1/2 pot on river or check fold if he pushed the way you played it.

I would fold to the reraise because it takes a perfect flop to feel good about the hand. All rags and you're beat. Any Ace and you might be outkicked (or cracked Kings) and any Jack and you lucked out against AK (or are still behind Queens). Short of flopping Broadway or trips, most every flop has danger and you have to act first.

So even though you might have the odds to call that PF raise, I feel it's still unprofitable in the long run because you can get into a lot of trouble as you've seen above.

So i wasn't outplayed, i was just a donkey for being in that hand to begin with. Okay, let's just delete this post and if anyone asks i'll deny it ever happened.
