5/10 AA hand, checking behind on the flop
PP 5/10 6max
UTG has 950 and I have him covered. He seems solid but has run a bluff on me once. UTG opens to 50, I make it 150 straight next with A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] he calls and we take the flop heads up. When he calls I put him on a high pocket pair or less likely a big ace. Flop (300) Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. He checks and I check. Turn (300)4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] he bets 65 and I call. River (430)6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] He checks and I bet 200. Comments? |

Re: 5/10 AA hand, checking behind on the flop
He's only calling with a flush, or something that beats your hand. IMO

Re: 5/10 AA hand, checking behind on the flop
I woudl cont bet the flop, ck turn then call/bet river. I put villain on something like KK here, given his small bet on the turn, he seems to be trying to find out where he is. I doubt he calls your river bet, unless he has you beat (AK of spades, trying to price himeself in on the turn?).

Re: 5/10 AA hand, checking behind on the flop
I don't really like the check on the flop. What was your thinking on it? To see if he had QQ or JJ? I think you make more money by betting the flop. If you do check the flop I would then raise the turn to see if he does have QQ or JJ. I don't have a problem with the river bet. I doubt he has you beat but he will call with KK and A-Q. Probably will not call with A-J but you never know. I doubt he will raise you with QQ or JJ because he will be afraid of you having the flush but I doubt he checks the river with a flush.

Depending on the size but probably re-raise. Maybe, call and raise the turn.

Re: 5/10 AA hand, checking behind on the flop
Flop check is for pot control and to see what he does on the turn. I think a lot of the time he will have flopped a set on this board and I am only afraid of giving free cards to AK [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] so this is a WA/WB situation. I also didn't want to get check raised on the flop as this opponent was capable of making a move with a worse hand although I doubt he would after the preflop action.

I bet flop, but as you played it, raise turn and check river.
