I set up a sick turn check-raise...
But then the poker gods said no. Aggressor preflop is 45/20/2 or so, donk bettor is...a donk. Prolly has the case 6.
Anyone like my call the first time around? Thought he might be going crazy with AK or AQ or something. Dunno. Hated the way I played this. It sure does look like the semi-maniac is on 77+, I dunno, I probably fold too.

Re: I set up a sick turn check-raise...
I usually raise the flop because theres a good chance villian will raise us with a PP and he prolly wont fold his overcards. Also, the donker could have the J and 3 bet. I like the slowplay line when I think its unlikely I get action on the flop, it a real shame when you could have gotten more bets in and dont.
That being said I think its really close, and I like your fold. |

Re: I set up a sick turn check-raise...
I like the flop call, but rather than planning on checkraising the turn, I prefer to donk the turn if a non-A/K/Q falls. This way, you prevent him from taking a freecard w/ AK/AQ, and you get to 3-bet his raise if he has an overpair. I checkraise A/K/Q's because donking them slows down underpairs, and BB is much more likely to fold a 6 for 2 cold when a big scare card falls instead of, say, a 5.

[/ QUOTE ] I hate the call/3 bet on the flop line, as it looks exactly like what it is, a really big hand, and it completely shuts down your action on future streets. You are better served by waiting till the turn prolly 80% of the time when you use this line. Personally I would have raised the flop, as I dont think an aggresive button is going to give you credit and it looks like you are trying to move him off his hand. |

[ QUOTE ] Anyone like my call the first time around? [/ QUOTE ] I like it a lot. [/ QUOTE ] Me too. I just can't stand when I flop a monster and my raise wins the pot on the flop or no bets go in on the turn. Although some of the biggest pots will be won with fastplayed monsters, I just think these games are so laggy that these guys will often go off for lots of bets and you can conceal your hand. I agree with Alobar that a back raise is very easy to read as a big hand for even the simplest of minds. |
