Default an NLHE tournament hand online...please analyze

This is from a $10+$1 NL multi at UB. I would like some of you who have a lot of experience playing NLHE tourneys to comment on My Friend's play. I think he played the hand very poorly. Could some of you elaborate on the mistakes that were made in playing this hand. I appreciate your comments.

Since the opener was in late position, and made such a wimpy bet, your friend should have made a large reraise pre-flop, perhaps 600-1000, in which case he would have probably won it right there. Even if the other guy called, and they wound up all-in anyway, at least then your friend would have gotten most of his money in while he was ahead instead of behind.

LOL! Maniac raised his 57o PF to 120. With AK, yeah reraise to 500 might have shut him up.

Then maniac lucked out with 57 flop and milks it and still doesn't get beat, lucky ____.

Maniac was basically not expecting a call but had his weak 2p just in case.

That looked like a pretty typical hand, not incredibly poorly played, I guess he felt someone else's raise PF was enough and hoped for more callers?

We don't have any idea what your friend's history with player 8 was though either and that would be a factor on how to handle the AI at the end.

You mentioned that you thought he played it poorly but you didn't say what you would have done?
