Re: lost ~90% of BR
The other thing I think folks really don't understand is that variance should not be viewed as cruel. It's a guaranteed part of poker. To focus on short-term results vs. making good decisions is to handicap yourself. So the first step is to variance proof your life. If that means a job, do that. If it means taking a big chunk out of b/r and investing it and then playing lower to build back up, do that. You can't take variance out of your poker sessions. But you can go a long way toward stopping it from affecting your financial life away from the table. Doyle Brunson stopped playing with the mortgage money sometime in his 40s, I believe he's written. If you make good decisions at the poker table, you'll win in the long run. If you plan your finances so that short-term results won't affect your life away from the table, you'll be alot more likely to stop seeing variance as cruel and start focusing on playing well -- and the reasons why you sometimes do or don't.

May I also suggest you take a break? Its hard to get into the mindset of playing well while stepping down in stakes. Take a week off; no poker. Get into the right frame of mind and focus on building back through a long slow grind rather than winning it all back at once.

[/ QUOTE ] Thats the key right there, also he didnt say how badly he beat the lower level, it sounds like a guy who was running hot and played each level for about 3 days ran hot and then came down when the heat ended. |

Also quit whining. Thousands of people died horrible deaths this week, and you feel like the last two months have been "cruel". Suffering is a part of life. Learn to accept that or kill yourself. I don't really care which. [/ QUOTE ] You are pathetic for saying this. |
