Re: Fold KK Preflop (Party 400NL)
Play doesn't get better till the 600's imo, then it only gets a little bit harder, NL 1K I think is where the "real" jump is.

Re: Fold KK Preflop (Party 400NL)
If you folded, he made a TERRIBLE play with aces, not a good one. He won how much relative to his stack? Barely anything. If he was smart, he'd reraise and bet out the flop/turn/river.
If Aces didn't want a bad beat, he wouldn't push letting the other person/people see all 5 cards. Seeing 3 cards = less bad beats than 5. |

Re: Fold KK Preflop (Party 400NL)
I raised all in for a full $1000 playing $5/$10NL with AA after a raise 5 times this month (one was a limp reraise all in). I got called 4 times.
Say what you want about it being a bad play, but I sure got value out of my 5 times doing it. |

Re: Fold KK Preflop (Party 400NL)
this may look weak, but it's quite possible i would have fold the kings too.
Obvioulsy, it is extremely player dependant. Some players won't make this move without aces. Had the pfr been higher than say 10%, it was an insta call. In your case, with a PFR under 4%, i put him on AA or AK. But, as you only have 80 hands on him, it's really difficult to trust the statistics. It can be a LAG who just got absolute crap during 80 hands. FWIW, i made that move a couple of times with AK (not very proud of it) and i got a couple of calls with AK. So the all in strategy is not necessarily that stupid. If by experience you put your opponent on AK or AA then a laydown is the best decision ev wise (i think people call more easily with ak than queens). I can't be sure i would have called though. I'd say i would have called 75% of the time, but there's still a 25% chance that i would have folded. I wouldn't have said i had kings. |

Re: Fold KK Preflop (Party 400NL)
I'm experimenting with the all-in reraise with AA. It seems like the small reraise is often a dead giveaway that you have AA (in fact 3 or 4 times this month, I was able to correctly put an opponent on AA after he min-raised my 4x raise).
It's not always the greatest play, but sometimes you'll make more money from the all-in than you would with a smaller raise. What if your opponent has AKs and misses the flop? You won't win any more money. I've been seeing a few people lately (at the $200's) who will play for all their chips preflop with AK. |

Yeah, but just cause you say you had them doesn't mean you did. You're not giving away any information unless your hand is turned up.

Re: Fold KK Preflop (Party 400NL)
What's wrong with folding kings here? Obviously hero had a read that villain wouldnt do this with air, otherwise he woulda called. I see people do this all time and a good portion of the time they have the goods. If his read was this guy is doing this with AA then by all means fold.
