Default Stupid line?

3/6 6 max, 6 handed.
MP is passive, with a .5 rating. In this particular hand, I check raised the flop, with all intentions of check-raising the turn again and leading the river. I felt that if he has an A, he might figure me for a middle pair and I was putting him to the test, and when I check the turn, I show that that I am not as strong as I advertised. Furthermore, if he has, say, KK or QQ, he might think the same and again bet to put me on no A. Or, if he checks behind, I can bet out the river and get a call, where I might get a fold out of QQ or KK on the turn (he has shown the ability to drop an underpair, no matter how good, if running into resistance). Regardless, is this a stupid attempt? I felt that if he is betting, he also has some hand, as he is so passive.

I am BB with 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
UTG calls, MP raises, folded to me, I call, UTG calls.

FLOP IS: 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I check, UTG checks, MP bets, I raise, UTG calls, MP calls.

TURN IS: 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Bet it. The chance that you can C/R does not outweigh the chance it gets checked thru here.

This isn't a stupid line. I like it if I know an opponent to call down, or bet when checked to.

Depending on UTG, I think there are other lines that might get you more value. Against aggro opponents, I've really become a fan of the bet/3-bet flop line...

I'd say bet it. Your c/r on the flop already gave you away--you're in this hand to stay, and villains know that. Bet for value, this could be a likely whiff.

This does not make good sense with what OP said. Vallain is a PASSIVE player, UTG is just some fish along for the ride. After the flop action, you for sure need to bet the turn because NO ONE played back on the flop C/R & it is VERY likely to get checked thru which is a DISASTER.

Against aggro opponents lots of things are done differently, but that is not what this post deals with.

True, I was thinking that C/C flop, and betting from there might get more out of UTG then the CR because even dumbkins who limp UTG can fold weakish hands instead of calling 2 cold...If you are going to CR the flop, AND you get two callers, and the PFR is passive, then you have to bet all the way...
