Default 5/10 6-max, how many bets on last 2 streets

This situation comes up a decent amount I think, flopping bottom or middle set, and the turn pairing the top card, how many bets should I get in on the last 2 streets....did I play this appropriately?

Dealt to Hero [ 4s 4d ]
Hero raises [$10].
X folds.
Villian calls [$10].
Y folds.
Z folds.
** Dealing Flop ** [ 8h, 7d, 4h ]
Hero bets [$5].
Villian calls [$5].
** Dealing Turn ** [ 8c ]
Hero checks.
Villian bets [$10].
Hero raises [$20].
Villian raises [$20].
Hero raises [$20].
Villian calls [$10].
** Dealing River ** [ Kc ]
Hero bets [$10].
Villian raises [$20].
Hero raises [$20].
Villian raises [$20].
Hero calls [$10].

Cap it both times against un-nit opponents. Against tight players cap turn and as little bets on river as possible.

By the way why did you check-raise the turn? Problem if the opponents is a thinking one he will know immidietly you have a very good hand after your check-raise, and because of that you shoulden't actually cap both streets.
You have to keep open betting so your opponent has a bigger chance to missread you.(Over pair most likely)

Yeah, you need a read. Against a donkey who will overplay 3 8's that bad I might. Against typical opponnets after a raise on the river lead I would just call.
Also yeah, you want to donk the turn (I would pause for a sec too)--this signifies more weakness and give you a better chance to 3-bet.

Looks good. I agree with betting the turn so you can get in 3-bets there without giving away your hand to observant opponents.

Check-raise the river and call a 3bet, or just bet/call, read dependent. Getting it capped on the river should make you throw up in your mouth a little.
