Daily MTTs at Foxwoods
Anyone ever played the morning NL multis at foxwoods? I may hit it tomorrow and was wondering how they were.
Thanks! |

Re: Daily MTTs at Foxwoods
Relatively soft, which is a good thing because of the ridiculously high rake.
I have played 6 of them, I've finished in the money 4 times, and I won the last one I played on July 5 - 193 entrants @ $45 + $15, I took home $2345. At the final table, everyone was talking about tournament experience. Four of the people at the final table were playing a tournament for the first time, and nobody else had ever made a final table. I had a pretty easy time of it - I really didn't have any monsters all day, and only got lucky once. There are definitely some very solid regulars to look out for though. I can't name them, but I could sure point them out to you. |

I need to call in sick or take a vacation day to play, that's why I have only played 6 of them. I am currently saving vacation time in hopes I can satellite into the $10k WPT event at Foxwoods in November. Good luck though, post a quick tournament report when you return. |

Re: Daily MTTs at Foxwoods
Any thoughts on whether Borgata or Foxwoods is a better place to play for a beginner looking for smaller tournaments or are they both about the same?

[/ QUOTE ] I've never played a tourney at the Borgata. Honestly, I think the best thing to do is to first get good at tournaments online. If you haven't, read and re-read both volumes of HoH. Learn to recognize betting patterns and how to play around inflection points. Then, you won't be a newbie at all, except in the since you have no "live" experience. Other than that, if you just want to get your feet wet and don't mind spending the $60, just say "f it" and go have some fun; I doubt it matters much where you actually play. |

Re: Daily MTTs at Foxwoods
couldnt have said it better - that's exactly my sitch. Have read and re-read HoH Vols I and II and am looking to try it out in a live tourney - and if I bust out early, I'll make it up (hopefully) at the limit tables.

Re: Daily MTTs at Foxwoods
Thanks. FYI I play a local home tourney game weekly with a collection of maniacs, LAGs and others with little knowledge of the game which probably would help me in the live casino tournaments (at least I'd like to think so)

Re: Daily MTTs at Foxwoods tourney report
thought i would follow up on SPR's request for a tourney report:
180 ppl. $45 +$15 buy-in. Pretty soft as you said SPR. Played tight early on and won a coin flip with my 99s to knock someone out. This kept me a live for a decent amount of time. Blind and antes increasing so I had to make marginal pushes to take the blinds and antes uncontested. Ran into Aces twice - once with KK, once with 99. But both times I had them covered so I'm still alive. All of a sudden I'm in the money (top 25). As you said - not too hard if you play smart. I hang tight and make a couple steals to reach the top 15. Then the people start dropping and we're at the final table. I'm #8 in chips so I'm not feeling that great. But I hang tight as #10 busts and #9's KTo runs into a KTc flush. Ouch. Things are looking up. Then a big stack crumbles. The blinds/antes are rising and I gotta make a move so I push with 57s UTG. I figure, if I get called, I'll be about 60/40, if not. I get called and hit my 5 to double up. But I still have work to do so I push T9o and get some luck again when I catch a 9. Now I'm in middle to high end of the pack. The players are not bad, but they're not great either. I let some of them fight it out and pretty soon we're down to 4. Then the worst player at the table (and who has me slightly covered) calls my middle-pair all-in on the flop. He calls with bottom pair and doesn't suck out on me (I guess my aggression PF helped my image). I knock him out a few hands later with J5 vs J3 Evenutally it's heads up and I pushed a raise with A9h in the BB. He had 44s and I catch a 9 on the turn to take it. A good time for sure - I wish I could get down there more often but the day job does get in the way. |
