No, you shouldn't have. Bet that river!

Re: Should I have been very scared of the 3rd heart?
Raise preflop while you're at it. But if someone hit his flush and was going to raise you, he would have done it on the turn, not when the blank hit the river. MP probably sees your river check as a chance to bluff at a decent sized pot with a less than premium holding.

-grunching-
The third heart isn't a big deal. If anyone had a heart flush or a 4 they have serious MUBS. Even if they hit the flush, you still have 10 outs to the full house. You have 3 reasons to bet. Your hand is fairly vulnerable. Any overcard might sink you, and more hearts are really bad. So you bet for protection. You are probably ahead with your top pair. Bet for value. If you are behind and you need to fill up, you have 21% pot equity and a 20% pot share. I small edge, but you bet it for value even if you knew someone had the flush. Checking the river is debateable. You would hate to face a raise, so it seems OK. -D |

For the love of all things right and true in the world, raise preflop!
Oh, and bet the river. Yes, you may indeed have been beaten by a flush. However, most of the time you won't, and you'll get called by lots of weaker hands. |

pf - raise for value. TT has more than enough equity to pump it up. flop looks right to me turn: you can't be afraid to bet here. checking and giving 1-card flush draws a chance to beat you would have been a huge mistake. Bet and call a raise. river - I'd probably lead out here and fold to a raise, but given that you checked I don't like the overcall. |

Re: Should I have been very scared of the 3rd heart?
Raise pre-flop, damnit! Limping TT (even in EP) is weaksauce.
No, you should not be afraid of the three-flush (not until someone gives you a reason, anyway). Bet here for value from lower pairs and single hearts. So your hand was good enough on the turn to bet... but not good enough on the river when a brick falls? What? Just bet the river. -K |
