dont post results, you will get better answers.

I would push pf here quite a bit at the 100s. other then that i would bet 300 and fold to a push on the flop

good point...maybe I should have just made a decent sized bet instead of a push. My thinking was that no way could a limper have hit that flop better than I did and figured it was an auto-push.

If you would call a push after a smaller raise, then it's better to push initially.

No need to push the flop. Minibet should be enough to find out whether you're good or not.

Yeah...I agree...I did screw this up...he could have easily had AA and been slow playing...or JT. The fact that he had 88 is irrelevant. Oh well...live and learn...that is why I joined these forums.

I don't know about a mini-bet. I'd least bet the pot. I want to leave overcards and gutshots no doubt as to what they should do. You'll still have about t1000 to work with.

I'm curious. Why at least bet the pot? Can't you accomplish the same thing, a little more cheaply, by doing an HOH style bet of about 2/3 to 3/4 of the pot?

I've been having a lot of success with that move lately. It doesn't let the draw hands stay in for cheap, but it also lets you know where you stand.

In that situation, wouldn't you want to lead out with something like that and if called, check/fold the turn UI?

Maybe I'm a big wussy, but I'm not looking for a way to shove that hand.

Betting the pot won't significantly increase the chances of villain folding compared to a minibet, which costs only half as much. Remember that minibet is 1/2 pot here, which is usually quite enough in a 2-way pot. If they call your 1/2 pot bet with overcards and gutshots, or even better draws, they're making a mistake, since you aren't giving them any more money.
