There's some decent hotels up by me on the UWS, but if price isnt an issue, you're really only talking about a 10 minute differential from the better hotels down town. I'd go with the Hudson which is close to the West Side Highway. It's a really great place too.

This is about 30 blocks away. Cheap Gypsy cab ride (less than 10 dollars) also, call Ivoire Car Service for door-to-door service, 212-722-8800

Ive never been to NY...well not that i can remember anyway...and this is a short notice thing...so if ya think of anything else let me know!
