Home game Hold\'em rules?
Hi,
We're having our first "Hold'em-only" home game. This will be a new experience for many of the regulars... so do any of you have any tips or suggestions to make it go smoothly? (I already have chips) I also want it to be a limit-game... - MSB |

Re: Home game Hold\'em rules?
If you are only playing hold 'em, use small and big blinds instead of antes. You get mmore action that way.

Re: Home game Hold\'em rules?
Suggest you play 2/4 limit with a 1/2 blind structure. IF someone wants higher limits go to 2/4/6 on the river
Good luck |

Re: Home game Hold\'em rules?
From a friends rules:
House Rules: Every rule here is to make play better, and to keep people coming back. Almost all of these have a historical basis, in gambling, perhaps even at this game. 1. Table Stakes; if you haven't started buying chips by the time cards start being dealt, they wait for the next hand. You go “all-in” if betting is beyond your current stacks. 2. Side pots are decided first, then the main pot. 3. Make change through other players, not the pot. 4. Buy Chips from the case, NOT other players. 5. If the case runs out, the players, starting with the person with the most money in play, may sell his chips. 6. Keep cards above the table, visible to all players and protected from being mucked. 7. Ace can be high or low, but not both. (A2345 and AKQJT are valid, KA234 is not) 8. Split pots (Ties of 5 card hands) are dealt out, so extra chips go to the person closest to the dealers left, or the High in High Low games. 9. Cards Speak; it is everyone’s job to point out a person's real hand. 10. Your hand will be folded if you aren't there when it is your turn to act, even if you are a blind. Cashier and people getting food for the group should be given leeway. 11. You have to post both blinds to sit back down if you miss them 12. You have to post the big blind when you first sit down, or wait for it to get to you. 13. Keep your bets in front of you until the round of betting is finished, then throw it in the pot. Don’t mess with your bet once made. 14. 1 man to a hand. Don’t tell someone else how to play their hand unless heads-up against them. This includes telling people to call or the like. 15. If the value of your chips comes out to something that cannot be cashed out e.g., $32.125, you must give one low value chip to someone else or the house to cash out.. 16. You must turn over three cards at the same time when dealing the flop. 17. You can't cash out part of your chips; when you cash out, you're done for the night. 18. Caro and Cook’s rules are king unless these rules state something contrary to them. There is a copy of these on the web at http://www.poker1.com/mcu/mculib_rules.asp |
