I personally have never seen someone check after the second Jack of spades fell on the river, but that's just me...

if you ever get out of the house and play live with Doyle, you'll see a LOT of Jack of spades. i mean, a lot. i had the good fortune to play in a tournament with him two years ago and i saw him do what appeared to be sign language but was actually codes to Chip Reese to magically transplant ANOTHER JACK OF SPADES IN THE DECK LOLOLOLOL

how do you do it Doyle?!

[/ QUOTE ]

Slightly off topic...

Does anyone know if Chip Reese and Reese Witherspoon are related?

I think cardplayer got it wrong, because I cannot fathom checking the river..

I was seated at that table and can verify that this did actually happen.

Watch the WPT event where Buss was heads up with Layne Flack again.

Then post if you still think it was out of character for Buss to check here.

Buss likes to play poker. He has more money than you could ever dream of. He has unbelievably cute 19 year olds dancing with him at his age. I am less than half his age, and I want unbelievably cute 19 year olds dancing with me.

People play poker for many different reasons. Just because he chose to play this hand in this manner does not make him an idiot. Maybe not so great a poker player, but not an idiot.

Obtain a net worth of $500K-1 Billion. Then tell me if even 500-1000 means jack to you. Frankly, I would play poker every now and then, and probably not very good. I would spend most of my time having debacherous orgies with unbelievably cute 19 year olds.

I'll second that. If I had that much, I would give up poker for all-day 19-year-old-girl orgies. mmm.

Good question. I have always wondered that.

I also lose a lot of sleep trying to decipher whether or not Men Nguyen was that guy from that band Men at Work, but I don't think he was.

Most people do not realize that Gram Parsons invented gram crackers.

Just thought you might like to know.

The original poster was wondering why Buss would play his hand this way.

Followup posters called the play idiot and so forth and to me, they insinuated that Buss is an idiot.

I am simply pointing out that not every poker player out there is motivated simply by making money, or for that matter, even winning a tournament in what might be considered a traditional manner. I would think you would be quite familiar with this line of thinking judging by the tremendous number of posts you have made about playing while intoxicated.

Bottom line is questioning Buss' play here only has limited value. Buss plays poker for very different reasons than you and I and if you want to get into his thinking you need to understand how much money he has and what his lifestyle is. Short of actually playing with him, the best way to do that is to watch the WPT event he was on.
