Some people are just donks. I had both blinds fold to my button push of 450 chips the other day...at 200/400 blinds.

Suffice to say, collusion isn't the most likely explanation for this.

I doubt this is collusion. It's more than likely the guy is a donk who got dealt something like 23o and he just has no concept of pot odds.

I also highly doubt the guy purposely kept the other player alive. This is a $20 tournament. 99% of people at the 20s don't think to use strategies like this.

And FWIW, I don't understand you people defending the play and saying it's a good idea to keep the small stack alive. I think that's a terrible idea. If you pass him those 500 chips for free, he's now got about 1400; that's far from trivial and enough to put a good dent in you. If you can take him out, however, you go heads up with 7,000 chips vs. 3,000 chips. That's a great situation.
