why pokersites reveal winners real names?
I can't understand it !
I just login in WilliamHill and NoblePoker, first I saw were last promotion winners names. I never would like to see my real name revealed publicly like in these cases. How can pokersites benefit that kind of action ? I think it is more unfavorable. Can anybody discover any logical explanation ? |

Lends legitiamcy top the site and also to teh fact that there are big winners. Whets the feeshes appetitites. I ddi notice that the 2 Party Poker WSOP final table entry were only listed by their SN on the congratulations scroll though. Bottom line, if you don't want your name publicized if you win big at a site you better read the T&C and not play at any where agreement is implied when you activate an account at a site that includes this in their T&C. |

I specifically remember the scroll saying "Andy 'Determinato' Black". Can't remember the other guy's name but I think they did the same thing for him. I agree that it adds legitimacy. It's one thing to see 'Aces99 won $9-zillion!!!' and it's another thing to see 'Mike Luvalulu' which looks more like "Golly....REAL PEOPLE are actually winning!!" Just like the bllboards I see on my drive down to the Tunica casinos from Memphis. Sheraton and Fitzgeralds both put up tons of billboards with some smiling jackpot winner and it says "Michael A. won $43,000!!" It's just an advertising philosophy to use actual names like that. I agree that some people might not dig it. I also agree that it's probably in their T&C's that if you win a BBJ or something or big-money tournament they reserve the right to publicize your real name. |

Re: why pokersites reveal winners real names?
Yes, I know T&C.
But I assume that goal of pokersite is to acquire more clients and this kind of practice does not serve that purpose. If I would be pokersite manager, I would promise 100% privacy to my clients. ( I assume that pokersites write their T&C themselves) |

Just becaue you don't like the policy doesn't mean it isn't effective. Maybe you should just become a poker site manager and market your site as having 100% anonymity. If I had to take a guess, I would think that most people could care less that their name is on some website after they pull in six figures in a tournament...if I won something like that they could put a picture of me mooning my grandma in the middle of times square |

Re: why pokersites reveal winners real names?
I think itīs pure marketing strategy. It just seems more real and reachable for the standard player if they read real names. It just the" It could happen to you also" principle, thatīs makes casinos give away the players real names. And yes I agree you will find that in the T&C but who has ever read them thoroughly and completely???? Well, I guess most players havenīt. Anyway I wouldnīt like my name printed out anywhere.
