I just got promoted to VIP on empire after playing like a mad man for the last 30 days. I would very much like to reach royal flush status to get my 100$ a month.
How long did it take for you lucky guys to do it? Their square root system for points seems to punish those who put in a lot of hours per day which is bad If you play 100 raked hands a day you get 20 points and if you play 1000 you get ~62 points. Just 3 times as much for 10 times the effort which makes me think this will take a loooong time... |

10 MTT's in a day = about 250 points
15 MTT's in a day = about 500 points 20 MTT's in a day = about 900 points 25 MTT's in a day = about 1500 points notice that it works the opposite of the ring-games...because the more you play...the faster you earn points (your last MTT's of the day are worth significantly more than your first MTT's) play the MTT's with the smaller fields since they will not last quite as long (they also have to be 9+1 or higher I believe). when I got to 13k points I did this off-and-on for a few days not only to finish it off and get the free $100/month but also to close in on the TV at 25k points. I earned about 9k points in 2 weeks but there is a significant effort involved (also not sure how rebuys work for their point structure now). you are correct to assume that you will have to play a LOT to get there via just the ring-games. 1k raked hands a day = 66 points. |

Thanks for the informative reply microbob. Seems like tourneys are the way to go then, unfortunately i'm a hardcore limit player and haven't played much NL at all.
Just ordered HOH1&2 so i guess i can try out some tournaments after i've read those. I guess you played both 10,20 and 30 buyin MTTs to get that many tournaments in on 1 day? Seems to be a shortage of 10$ MTTs which i would prefer since it doesn't seem like you place in the money very often. |

I think he played pretty much everything up to the 200+9.
Notice that this is MTT, the sng 2-3 tables count as sngs, not MTTs. |

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but I just logged in to ask about this exact topic.
I think that 400 raked hands a day is the most economical (ring game) points accumulation. 400 raked hands gives 40 points once VIP status is achieved. Bobs' tourny strategy makes a lot of sense. Maybe a combination of the two would get it done faster. Back to my original question, has anyone been promoted before actually reaching the point requirements. Obviously they promote to VIP early, since numerous people have posted about it, not to mention that it happened to me. |
