Default River Play with Rivered Set

Online, no reads.

Hero open raises in MP with 66. 1 cold-caller in LP, BB calls. 3 to flop.

Flop comes 2 4 5, rainbow. BB bets, Hero raises, LP folds, BB calls.

Turn is a 7. BB checks, Hero bets, BB Check-Raises, Hero Calls.

River 6, no flush out there. BB Bets... Hero raises.

Standard play or too risky and dangerous?

The only things beating you are 77, 88, and anything with a 3 (33, A3s). 33/A3 is probably unlikely, and the other 2 are more likely, but just as likely as any bigger pair as well (if you have stats on him that would help). I'd probably raise and call a re-raise, but I'm getting murdered lately, so who knows @_@

Given the coordination of the flop and the check-raise on the turn, A3 is not out of the question. This looks like a river bet/call to me.

too risky IMO. Getting 3-bet here really sucks and there are just so many hands that he checkraises the turn with that contain and 8 or a 3. This decision depends so heavly on reads that against an unknown I like to err on the side of caution.

I would just call. With no reads and the way he played it.

Default **Results**

Well, it looks like most of you believed I overplayed my hand. So, in the future, I think I'll be calling the river against an unknown.

This time, I got lucky. The villian showed 74 for a turned two pair.

I figured that his most likely hands were:

22, 44, 55, 45, A3

and maybe an off-chance he had 88 or a larger pair.

I certainly didn't expect to be shown 74. In any case, that is why I raised the river, I just figured more chance that he was still beaten than not.

But, to avoid being results-oriented, I posted to solicit opinions. Thanks for the responses.
