HOH or TPFAP?
Hi,
I'm wanting to improve my tournament play- I mainly play home-game, $10 buy-in, single table limit tournaments, together with the occasional no-limit tourney. Which book would you guys recommend I read first- Harrington on Hold 'Em Vol.1, or Tournament Poker For Advanced Players? Thanks In Advance, John |

Re: HOH or TPFAP?
tpfap first prolly best way to go. Covers the general notions about tourney play.

Re: HOH or TPFAP?
I actually think HOH would be better to read first because Harrington actually addresses SNG tourney situations quite frequently.

Re: HOH or TPFAP?
HoH
TPFAP is just a collection of articles, not a complete poker text. Sylvester Suzuki's book is probably the best for simple tournament strategy. HoH for more advanced play and as a complete strategy guide. TPFAP has some interesting topics not covered by the others. |

Re: HOH or TPFAP?
TPFAP if playing mostly tournaments for any game other than nl hold'em.(which you are) Buy Harrington if you're playing mostly nl hold'em.

Re: HOH or TPFAP?
TPFAP addresses a few NL specific issues. Quite a few, actually.

Re: HOH or TPFAP?
I found Sklansky to be interesting, but theoretical. Harrington was relentlessly practical with at least 100 concrete examples in volume 1. At the home game $10 level, I think HOH is the CLEAR choice. If you have a bookstore near you like a Borders or Barnes & Noble or such go to the store and browse through the books.
