Default Mason, Spare Time Question

Mason,

My drive to the B&M is 1.5 hours and when I arrive sometimes I have to wait up to two hours for a game. Instead of waiting, I think I will spend that off time playing blackjack. I’m looking to kill a little time and make a little extra money. I see that you wrote a few books on the subject so I just want to know what you think? I know basic strategy and was wondering if I should learn a counting system? If so which one would you recommend? Besides your books, are there any others I should read (I already read David Sklansky’s book)? Would you recommend any software to help counting skills? Or would you recommend I spend my free time doing something else? This question is not just for Mason. Any opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi QMC:

You probably want to lear the High-Low count which is in Wong's book Professional Blackjack. However, you need good games for this to be worthwhile, and your casino may not offer games of real value.

Best wishes,
Mason

learning to count cards will make your head explode, but if you have the time and the advil, a basic hi-low count works. this link will teach you the count and has some excersises to help you along the way http://bj21.com/gamemaster/gamemaste...icsindex.shtml . id stick with playing basic strategy. whenever i go down i always put my name on the waiting list then hit up the $15 minimum table. start with $100, i play until i win around $100 to cover me ($1-2 game, im in college), then get out, using only basic strategy. it has yet to fail me. the only problem is knowing when to get out. it usually doesnt take me longer than 20 minutes if everyone knows what they're doin at your table. but if you want some action and the possibility to rake in some real cash play craps. slightly complicated at first, but worth it.

mayor, every concept you have in your post is exactly wrong and directly opposite to how it is. if you are in cooledge you have the foundation to correct it before you go and stay broke.
