I say raise the flop.
Is the pre-flop check that bad?? |

Re: AJo - postflop plan
I think I would raise now and try to knock the UTG out and at the same time maybe get a free card on the turn. I think there is a real possibility that you are behind right now. If you don’t get the free card on the turn then I think folding to a bet on turn would be okay.
If you get it heads up after the flop and get a free card on the turn – I would call a river bet. |

Re: AJo - postflop plan
I raise preflop
and call the flop, if we are ahead we aren't going anywhere, neither player can have more than 4outs. if behind, we aren't catching up often. the pot is tiny, we don't care if UTG comes along, in fact I think we want him to come along here, since he's almost never a threat I think my main plan right now is to play for overcalls |

I say raise the flop. Is the pre-flop check that bad?? [/ QUOTE ] i think it is that bad since we likely have an equity edge here agaisnt a caller and SB who could have just completed w/ anything. basically, we're most likely favorites pf, and raising and leading the flop is often enough to take it down, UI. |

Re: AJo - postflop plan
I think I'd raise here.
I'm ahead of everything but AA, KK, AK, AQ, and Kx. I think all but Kx are unlikely, since no PF raise. So, I'm raising for value brcause I have he best hand and to protect my hand from a gutshot draw. I would expect Ax (x<Q) or a PP < K to call down no matter what. As for the PF action, for what it's worth SSH recommends checking with AJ from the BB. I know there's a lot more to it than following a chart, but we have no reads here, and we don't know UTG's requirement for limping EP. |

Re: AJo - postflop plan
*In the dark, please critique*
i'm betting out since my hand is likely the best. If raised, i'll probably call and re-evaluate on turn (depending upon position of raiser). If i get a call (or two) I would be cautious depending on what fall on the turn. Edit: meant to type raise rather than "betting out" in first line |

Re: AJo - postflop plan (end of hand)
[ QUOTE ]
I raise preflop [/ QUOTE ] Interesting, a lot of people said this. I've started moving away from raising this in the BB; AK, of course, AQ, yes, AJs, yes, AJo, no. Would you raise ATo? So, the turn brought the 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], SB bet, I raise, everybody folds. So, calling got me an extra bet and a half. Whoo! |

Re: AJo - postflop plan (end of hand)
thats a safe turn, no new draw .. just call, and pickup another bet from UTG

Re: AJo - postflop plan (end of hand)
Yeah...I figured he might not play the turn, anyway, and I might not get another out of SB on the river, so I fired, here. I've always had a problem with being premature.
