Re: situations i hate ( part 1 of 1 )
I lead the turn here and am prepared to fold if raised. If it's called, I check the river and hope he checks through 99 .

I dunno, I really hate your river fold. I think if you are gonna call the turn, you need to call the river. If you believe villain, just fold the damn turn, otherwise calldown.

I've taken lines similar to this before thinking like you that he would likely fire the turn shot, but then assume I was calling down when I call the turn and check the river without an ace. Others don't seem to like it.

Re: situations i hate ( part 1 of 1 )
I either bet the turn, or check/fold it. Given your PF cap, I dont think hes gunna bluff an ace if he has something like KQ or 99. The ace pretty much kills you anyway, so I dont hate check/fold all that much either.

agreed with alobar.
you capped pre-flop. if he's a TAG...then he probably is sharp enough to see that you are a pretty reasonable player too. bet the freaking turn. he either has an ace or he doesn't (not sure of his post-flop tendencies...but some players will fold QQ or KJ or something after a pre-flop cap AND the ace shows up AND you are still betting at it). if he raises the turn then you're done. if he calls the turn then I think check-fold the river is okay. once you check the turn you might as well just be giving him the pot. He's either afraid of the turn ace after your pre-flop cap or he isn't. checking tells him that YOU are the one who is afraid of it. |

Does everyone else cap with TT against a TAG?

Re: situations i hate ( part 1 of 1 )
I cap 1010 vs. TAG because I know a TAG will 3-bet me with AJ, KQs, A10s, 88, 99, etc. Playing HU vs a TAG when it is capped preflop is all about how the flop comes, IMO.

[ QUOTE ] Does everyone else cap with TT against a TAG? [/ QUOTE ] yes [/ QUOTE ] I also do. And I don't mind your river fold, it puts two more hands out there ahead of you. Some hearts that hit a pair on the flop are ahead, middle pair is ahead, any ace, top pair. You've gotta let it go there somewhere. |
