Re: For Those of You Who Play a Lot (By Force)
[ QUOTE ]
when I play I play 6-8 table of 6-max so it's pretty intense and frustrating at times. playing less tables isn't an option at this point as I can't sacrifice that much money at this point. [/ QUOTE ] None of my business, but how much money do you need? Don't you 6 table the 10-20 6 max have a really good winrate + rakeback? You are also fairly young correct? I mean money is nice and all but come on. Anyweys the answer to your post is Exercise. Hit the gym. Exercise is great for getting rid of stress. Not to mention the health benifits If you are already in semi-decent shape 3-5 months of the gym will really tone you up and make you feel better. |

Online gin rummy works for me. So does 4 tabling low limit O8.
We should hit that tournament on Mon and play the alleged 3/6 HOE game. |

Re: For Those of You Who Play a Lot (By Force)
Get away from electronic devices.
Read a book instead of watching movies. Go for short walks (15-30min). Playing videogames is to simaliar to playing online poker and probably does not relax you. |

Re: For Those of You Who Play a Lot (By Force)
Do you run? I find myself much more able to focus on poker during the day after I've gotten a run in that morning. Not as restless.
Also, try to leave your apartment or wherever you play and get outside during your break. Go for a walk. Bring a book somewhere, get a drink, and chill out for a half our or so. I think physical motion and changes of scenery are critical for refreshing your mind and making a break a true break. Movies and video games will just make you more lethargic (or frustrated as you mentioned). Save them for when you are done with poker for the day. Human contact is also good if you can find someone to go with you for the drink. Or maybe just call up a friend to say hi while you're sitting there. |

When I get antsy I go for a drive. Like you, a lot of people are out of town right now and theres not a lot to do. Go get coffee somewhere, go to the park...just get outside. Always helps me, hope it helps you.

Re: For Those of You Who Play a Lot (By Force)
For your sanity (and general health) I suggest limiting your "screen time" as much as possible during this marathon. So, if you're going to play a ton of poker, cut way back on time spent staring at the TV, playing video games, or random net surfing. That's part one.
Part two is to get outside. A sunny afternoon is the antithesis of a computer screen. Take time every day to feel the sun on your face. Read a novel that's engaging, but not an intellectual decathlon. Bonus points if you read said novel on a park bench. Eat lunch out, preferably with a friend. After an hour spent eating and chatting in a place with real people who are also eating and chatting, and you'll be itching to get back to the table. Before bed, take a walk. You'll feel better, play better, and sleep better, with dreams not populated by hole cards. Good luck. P.S. Sleeping helps for obvious reasons, but if you play half the day and sleep the other half, you will soon wish for the sweet release of death. There is no refreshment without a change of scenery. |

Re: For Those of You Who Play a Lot (By Force)
play soccer or some other sport. theres something about physical exhaustion that helps mental exhaustion imo.
spending more time with the ladies is another good option (kind of the same idea as above). gl |
