Hey, maybe we could ask your Dad this question...I know there's some kind of contest right now. Wonder what the poker master listens to? Classical i would bet.

I need help in this area as well. I like groups with strong lyrics. My tastes are pretty old, but Elvis Costello, for instance, is one of my favorite musicians.

Elliott Smith maybe?

I'm almost 35. But my tastes go back to the sixties and seventies, mostly. That stuff was new to me when I discovered it. I hated most of the eighties pop, and wasn't too thrilled with nineties grunge. And then I stopped paying attention. So I am curious to know what's out there now aside from the top 40 stuff.

I think that's a great initial suggestion for Mat. Maybe some Sufjan. I don't really know much about Costello's sound though. I'll give it some thought.

Indy, I think you'd probably like the middle 3 White Stripes albums.

90s-present...anything but country music...that's the only type of music i could never enjoy...even if i was raised in NC.

I use to like Rock back in the 80s and 90s probably the same stuff you like but I can't really listen to any of the new stuff outside of Audioslave, the White Stripes, Black Keys, and Twin-A.

Now I guess I listen to more of the Singer/Songwriter music like Ari Hest, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, Gavin DeGraw, Jamie Cullum, Damien Rice, Franky Perez, Jason Mraz (live only), Martin Sexton, etc...

You can get alot of this music for free recorded from live shows on Archieve.org
