Re: Odd situation with a flopped set.
thanks for all the help. I can see why leading out would be the better choice.

Re: Odd situation with a flopped set.
[ QUOTE ]
Why do you like the c/r here? It did not accomplish what he intended to do. [/ QUOTE ] My post wasn't results-oriented, but in any event I think as it turned out he might have accomplished his primary purpose: to get more bets from his opponents. By my calculation, by check-raising, he got 2 bets from his opponents. If he would have simply bet, would he have gotten more? Maybe. On the flop, I don't think so -- 2 of them folded to 1 bet anyhow. 1 of them folded to 2 bets, but might have folded anyhow to just 1 bet. It's true that leading with a bet might have gotten more bets on later streets than a CR, but I think it's close to a wash. But, as I said, my original reply was not results oriented. I liked the play originally because I thought: (A) it is likely in a SS game that one of four remaining players would bet, making a check-raise available, which could be a good thing; and (B) it helps the OP vary his play to become less predictable. (B) alone might still make his play the correct one, if done with the correct frequency (not sure what that frequency is!). |
