Taxes fund far more than just a war. That's not a good question at all.

New001 you are correct in saying I did not ask a good question, but not for the reason you stated.
Taxes do pay for things other than war, but this does not mean that taxes don't also pay for war.

It's a bad question because I've taken complex ideas like oppostion to the war in Iraq and taxes and combined them to make an overly simplistic statement...

Opposition to war requires not paying taxes.

This is ridiculous and untrue.
The same reasoning applies to the statement...

Support for war requires enlisting.

Wow, great analogy. Definitely an apples to apples comparison. I had no idea this was the case, and it took me a second glance to agree.

Do you have any links to any of the 'conscientious non tax payers' in Vietnam for instance?

Or better yet, anti-war peeps that even do business or transact at all with these tax payers (war supporters) are definitely just as hypcrotical as a gungho soldier who does not volunteer.

POTD.

BUT IT IS NOT CONSISTENT TO BE A SUPPORTER OF THE WAR AND OTHERWISE ABLE TO SERVE AND NOT TO VOLUNTEER FOR IRAQ!

[/ QUOTE ]

Ok, I'll bite, why is this not consistent? I pay thousands of dollars a year for a military that is able to protect our country's interests with force. We have elected officials who decided that this war is the best way for our interests to be protected. Why can I not support this decision without travelling to a desert and getting shot at?

Bush, Cheney and most other top-ranking Conservatives have served their country valiantly, just as I have.

As a Desert Storm vet and a liberal, that's pretty offensive BGC. I'd be over there now too, but war is a younger man's game.

I pity you for not being able to experience the comraderie that serving together during a conflict brings. There wasn't a man in my unit I wouldn't have plucked an eye out for.

When we mobilized, even the few who objected and applied for CO status weren't judged for it. It's a lot to ask of anyone.

Don't spew that crap about making the world better, that's absolutely stupid. No one over there now has that in mind, staying alive and keeping their buddies alive is all that matters.
