You aren't talking about Paiute are you? It is not really in the mountain and I don't know north from south in Vegas, or up from down for that matter, but Paiute was a very good golf experience.

No idea whether or not the course behind Wynn is open....?

[/ QUOTE ]

If your referring to the Wynn course, I've heard it's open, you must be staying at the Wynn property and it runs $500. Verify this though.

true on both counts

I have had good luck using Stand by Golf (702 597 2665). Call at 5PM the day before you want to play and you can get decent discounts.

I'll toss in a recommedation for that too. I haven't used it, but my dad uses it everytime he goes nd has always gotten some good deals on good courses.

You should subscribe to golf702.com - it is free. Just go to the website and sign up.

They will email you greens fee specials every night for the next day. This will prohibit you from making advance tee times, but the money you will save as a visitor on greens fees will be more than worth it.

I play most of my golf at Paiute and they are always offering specials on this site. They have three really nice courses out there. It is a long drive from the strip though.

Most of the courses through this site are a bit away from the strip.

As for clubs, most courses have nice rental sets like Callaway or Titleist clubs.
