any goods books on no limit cash games?
Hi i just got the 200 bonus at bodog but the limit games are real scarce there so im playing 5./1$ no limit,
did ok at start but got hit by a few flushes yesterday and have lost the bonus already, still it is a lot tougher than limit, the problem i have is not knowing what to bet, i usually riase with hands pf that id raise with in limit and usually raise 4-5$ pf, but onb the flop im not sure what to bet, usually half the pot with TP? I usually fold when someones comes back at me for a large amount, do players bluff a lot in no limit ring games, they usually show down a winner when the reraise? |

Re: any goods books on no limit cash games?
Hey man, this should help...
Q: What's a good poker book for NL cash games? A: Any of the following would be excellent choices for reading material: PL & NL Poker by Bob Ciaffone & Stewart Reuben Super System by Doyle Brunson Championship No-Limit & Pot-Limit Hold'Em by TJ Cloutier |

I went from being confused half the time to knowing the right play 90% of the time. http://www.texasholdempoker-stats.com/thp_books.html [/ QUOTE ] What he said. HOH V1 rox. [/ QUOTE ] So just volume 1? Should I get the 2nd one also? [/ QUOTE ] you will have much more luck with both of Bob Ciaffon's books, PL/NL w/ Stewert Rueben and Improve your poker. HOH1 stuff are farily elementary. HOH2 is a must for all MTT players. [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: any goods books on no limit cash games?
I think the Cloutier/McEvoy is excellent, but more suitable for early stages of larger tourneys.
The NLHE supplement in the two Super/Systems is not going to work for you in small stakes games - I think I read a post here on 2+2 once that most players in these games play a "dumbed-down" version of what Brunson advises. I agree. Harringtonīs books are good, but again centered around tourney play, especially Vol. II. Read Sklanskyīs Theory of Poker. Not really a NLHE specific book, but covers the fundamentals. If your not familiar with the concepts in there I donīt think your ready for NLHE. |

Re: any goods books on no limit cash games?
Cloutier & McEvoy is definitely a tournament book, but there is a lot of useful info there. Doyle's chapter in Super System 2 is definitely not geared for tournies. It is about cash games and advises super-aggro play. It works pretty well at B&M cash games against fair players. Be careful trying it against calling stations, though. They often don't know enough to know that they should fold. If you follow Doyle's advice be prepared for some swings in your stack. I haven't read Ciaffone & Reuben.

honestly, i have tj's book right beside me, i think his play is so weak.... but harringotn on hold em.. i love those books..
if you read even harrington vol 1. it has alot of good stuff which if you can get your mind around it will allow you to make good decisions in cash games as well. |
