Default SH VPiP%

Hi guys, I made the switch to short handed games about 2 weeks ago and am loving it... What i want to know though is what kind of VPiP% i should be at for optimal play? I'm currently around 27 average which according to PT says i'm Semi-Loose-Aggressive/Aggressive.

Is it right to play tighter on these tables than that?

Also, regarding blinds... i'm finding i rarely play out of the small blind. My stats show me at a big loss when i try to play anything out of the small blind that i wouldn't play normally?? Is there something i'm missing here? (I know this is a bit vague, but i can't really give you any more info other than if you were to view my PT stats)

Remember that PT doesn't say you are semi-loose, someone's rules you imported (that likely don't account for VP$IP shorthanded) do. FWIW, I'm looser preflop than you.

My belief is that a person's VPIP directly correlates with their style of play, and that a fairly wide range of numbers can be acceptable for shorthanded play. My suggestion for you is to play your game without worrying about a percent or two here and there and see where you shake out 100,000 hands from here.

I think it's easier in full ring to rely on numbers to give you information on the relative success of your game, but SH play puts many more of your "intuitive" (hand reading) skills to the test.
