Regardless of outcome, you have to bet. If not the flop, then the turn. Get the money in there when you have a good hand.

Except Mike McD didn't make weak little bets. He swole the pot to enormousness.

Why play so passive? Raise preflop. Definately bet the flop, you have to protect your two pair. Smoothcalling the turn is ok I guess, since there is only one hand that has you beat, but you have to get a bet in there somewhere before the river.

raise preflop
pot the flop
not having done that, pot the turn
not having done that, pot the river
not having done that, make a pot sized check-raise on the river...$9.50 to go

you played this like a little girl. yes you were getting stacked 100 times out of 100 after that turn.

The only reason I played that like a little girl is because the whole table was folding to big (re: >$2) bets...barring him having a hand, I'm not going to bet $5+ on that turn and possibly scare him off, especially if he was drawing to a flush.

In 3 of the previous 10 hands, I was dealt AK, QQ, and JJ...winning a grand total of $3. Two hands I won after raising it up preflop, and the third I won after making a "big" bet on a scary flop.

One option is to fold preflop. A9off is a marginal hand after a 4xBB raise.
After the flop I like to bet on both the flop and turn. If he had 99 or AA its almost impossible to get away from it. If he had QQ, you lost because you played it badly.
Bye the way, it doesnt look likely that he is on a flush draw, judging by the preflop action and especially his turn bet.
